Description

In the last century, a female lexicon has emerged in art that is changing its physiognomy. But what lexicon? How do we talk about art and women in new ways? Aptitudeforthearts, the association that supports women’s artistic research, has tried to do so by creating a series of podcasts where they tell us about themselves. In Mappa d’artista, women working in the art world, whether they are artists, gallery owners, or collectors, retrace their journey by fixing some key places in their growth, places that tell us about their passions, choices, and desires. Twelve episodes that reveal how much the female art world is traversed by effervescent, often inspired, almost always courageous creativity.

Mappa d’artista is a podcast designed and hosted by Francesca Filiasi for APTITUDEforthearts-.

Episodes

Matilde Cassani, architect designer and artist, is the protagonist of APTITUDEforthearts 2023 installation entitled “Almost Nobody,” at the Principality of Lucedio in the province of Vercelli.
In this special episode dedicated to her, she tells us how places are transformed to welcome new populations or to celebrate different rituals. A study she also brought to the exhibition in Lucedio, which celebrates “in absentia” the work of the mondine. And it is precisely this ability to look at spaces analytically that is the main feature of her work, on view through November.

Miriam Loro Piana, a lawyer specializing in intellectual property law, travels through time by going to Paris in the 1920s and then to Klimt’s Vienna, via the Sistine Chapel.

Sonia Farsetti, of the auction house of the same name, on her way met Ardengo Soffici in Versilia and then continued the journey between Florence and Paris, aiming to reach even as far as Mars through art.

Play is the fundamental driving force for Swiss artist Nadia Berri, which brought her from her city of Zurich to London where she lives. Again play makes her choose Bosch’s Garden of Delights and Black Mountain College, the liberal arts school where John Cage, Theodore Dreiser and Robert Rauschenberg have taught, as places of the heart.

Flash Art magazine journalist Eleonora Milani tells us that movement is an integral part of her life. It is the movement that took her from the archaeological sites of Tarquinia to Rome to telling us about the Elgin marbles at the British Museum in London and the work of Eve Hess at the National Gallery of Australia.

Neapolitan artist Ilaria Abbiento finds that water and the sea, always present in her works, were already fundamental elements for her, born in Naples, since she was a child. Today it is mainly the islands, such as Asinara, Corsica or Capraia, that are the protagonists of her latest works.

Art historian Cristina Resti, who has worked with Generali’s Art sector for many years, starts at her grandmother’s kitchen table and works her way to discovering house museums, whether it be the Stibbert Museum in Florence or Sir John Soane’s Museum in London.

Collector and art law expert Maria Grazia Longoni, drags us from Basel to the Albertina Museum in Vienna to the Fattoria di Celle in the province of Pistoia, where the Gori Collection, a permanent exhibition of environmental art, is housed.

Tiktoker Noemi Tarantini travels Italy from south to north and passing through Michelangelo Pistoletto’s City of Art in Piedmont arrives at the Pompidou Museum in Paris to admire a monochrome by Yves Klein.

Artist Silvia Bigi travels among imaginary cities, flights in the clouds, forests and prehistoric quarries. Hers is an Artist’s Map that winds almost more between suggestions and memories than between real places.

The collector Nicole Saikalis Bay, creator of the WeArtWalks project takes us from Lebanon where she was born to Paris and London. Then she strolled through the Engadine until arriving in Milan where today she takes care of her collection together with her husband.

Gallery owner Chiara Tiberio talks to us about Ferrara where she saw the first exhibition that really struck her, Rome and New York, cities that helped shape her, and Bologna where she now runs an important gallery.

Loredana Longo, the artist famous for her “Explosions” series of works, recounts the journey from her beloved Sicily to Milan, where she now lives and works, via Tuscany, Picasso’s Spain and the Greece of the ancient kuoros.
